Bibliotherapy Group

“I absolutely loved it!”    “It was really interesting”

” I liked that there is no pressure to speak if you don’t want to”

“I really enjoyed interacting with other people attending the group”

Bibliotherapy aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people by using storytelling or the reading of specific book extracts, poems, and writing with the purpose of healing.  We find that the bibliotherapy group is a great way to explore equalities issues in a safe space.

The Midlothian People’s Equality Group Bibliotherapy group is hosted by Midlothian Council’s Healthy Reading Bibliotherapist Juliet Ridgeway-Tait and is currently running online via Zoom every 2 months.  The sessions often have a theme (e.g. Black History Month, New Year) and Juliet welcomes suggestions for these from the group members.

There are a limited number of spaces so please get in touch at if you are interested in joining the group.

The following is an acrostic poem which the bibliotherapy group made collaboratively at one of our sessions at the start of 2021.
