Equal Midlothian Week is an annual celebration of equality and diversity in Midlothian taking place on the first week of March each year. A week of events bringing communities together and highlighting equalities work in Midlothian.
Organisations working on equalities issues come together to profile their work during events which:
- Promote a more equal Midlothian
- Raise awareness of equality issues
- Celebrate the work people do on equalities in Midlothian
- Create stronger links between groups and involve local adults, young people and children
- Reach out to all communities
The Midlothian Mela which takes place on the Saturday, is always a highlight of the week!

Misconceptions about Learning Disability Event (Equal Midlothian Week 2020)
People First Scotland members shared with us some common misconceptions faced by people with learning difficulties and how this impacted them. We enjoyed some delicious cake and coffee while taking part in some interesting and insightful discussion around how and why these misconceptions should be challenged.
